I am no expert.
Seriously.
I am without a doubt, no where near an expert or educated man on what I am about to share. All I know is that it’s what God has continuously been teaching me in ministry over the years.
I am no expert.
Now, let’s cut to the chase, we all desire for the ministries we’ve been trusted with, to be a ministry that helps to grow our children & students spiritually. We all want them to meet Jesus, accept Him & grow in Him.
It’s why we do what we do.
Through the years I’ve been a part of Student & Children’s ministry. Ironically, I’ve noticed that while the details of how we minister to both differ somewhat. The method of how we pour into & grow them spiritually is somewhat similar.
What I mean by that is that I’ve noticed three very similar things in Children & Student ministry that HAVE to exist if we want to maximize the spiritual impact we have on their lives.
- We must constantly PRESENT the gospel message to them in a culturally-relevant & age appropriate manner
- We must POUR into the families that have been structurally charged as the spiritual leaders of their children/students
- We must CREATE community between our kids/students & their volunteer leaders (which starts by creating community between our volunteers & volunteer leaders)
Again, I’m not stating this as fact. I can’t, I’m not an expert.
Rather, I would love to know your thoughts. What have you learned are key methods for spiritual growth in children & students?
Share. I’m here to learn, not teach!

Those are great thoughts! I’m not much of an expert either, but your 3 points are variations of the ones I use as well.
-Give them the Word of God in it’s most relevant form!
-Invest in the entire family, not just the kids.
-Create community among those serving.
