Alright…it’s been a week and now it’s time to actually put something out there on whether or not “Just Pudge” will continue to be a small part of what is happening out there in “blogsphere” or not??? And the answer is…YES, I will be returning!!

Now for some of you that is some great news and to others it may not be, but before you cast your “wahoos” or your “boos” let me share with everyone my commitment in continuing this blog:

1) This will be a positive blog.

Looking back over past posts I noticed some “edgyness” in the way things were wrote. It wasn’t intentional (because I wasn’t aware of it until it was brought to my attention). It was almost as if I was defending something. NOTE: There is a thin line between protecting the ministry and defending the ministry. I will get into more on this in a later post but for now please know that I am dedicated to making sure that “Just Pudge” stays a positive place to visit.

2) This will be a place to link and network CM people.

I love the local church…I ABSOLUTELY love my church, NewSpring Church! I believe that we are called to network, learn, and grow from each other from what God has taught each of us. I want this to be a comfortable place to visit, get ideas, talk to people, grow and learn (for all of us including me)! After all I know I haven’t “arrived” yet and I won’t ever “arrive!” Therefore I am called to continue to grow! So let’s grow together in what Christ is teaching us!

3) This will be a fun and diverse place.

Life is fun isn’t it? I think it is! We have JESUS…what more could we want? So as much as I love to post about CM stuff, NewSpring stuff, and church related stuff there will also be some other stuff that goes out there…just random fun stuff about life! Why? Because life is fun and telling about the fun stuff is…fun!! Stuff like Clemson football, movies, music, or anything random that just seems fun to put out there. Why? Well…it’s fun!

So, there you have it…”Just Pudge” will return but hopefully a little different than before! My goal is to start things back up full force on Monday, May 21st! It should be a great “opening day” so don’t miss it! Here are some posts I am working up right now that you can expect to see in the near future…

  • What I learned when I was gone<
  • Books on my list
  • New Children’s Series at the Majestic
  • What I learned at “Orange”
  • American Idol and the kids
  • What’s on the movie list this summer?
  • Books I have been reading
  • My favorites in kid’s worship

But enough about me – what’s been going on with you guys? Let’s get some dialogue started…

  • Whose out there & where are you from?
  • Are there some blogs out there I should check out?
  • What great books have you read?
  • What the best movie out right now?

Pudge, I’m so glad you are back. I was at Orange. Didn’t see you, but glad you were there. I’m working on compiling my notes right now.

One thing I found at Orange is that we need to share more. I’m creative, but don’t necessarily know how to accomplish the things I see. I went to the Design on a Dime breakout and learned how to make foam board into sets. I just don’t know how to do that (the next time you guys are going to do that if you need some help invite me down…I’d love some hands on experience). There are many things we can do with little to nothing in supplies but we need to share.

Thanks for providing a forum to share in…

HI Pudge! Welcome back. Glad to see your return. My name is Michelle (I met you at Unleashed) and I’m from Columbia, SC. Children’s minister of 5 years at a church here. Great blogs…hmmm…..I like jabberfrog.com - she’s from lifechurch.tv and has some great info. Great books as of late….”Starbucks Experience” is great, currently waiting on “Revoluntionary Parenting” by Barna and “Creating Ever-cool: A Marketer’s Guide to a Kid’s Heart.” Heard those were good. Do you know a good one about Disney? Anyways, just wanted to welcome you back and I’d love to network with others!

Thanks for the great comments guys! It’s good to be back and yet “different” too, but I am looking forward to jumping into things even more next week.

    Tina:
We were at Orange and it was fun! They had some great breakouts and it sounds like “Design on a Dime” was great for you and your team! Foam board can be quite a challenge…we are in the middle of a set change this week and its…fun! :) Maybe one day we can exchange secrets of the trade (to foam board)….

    Michelle:
I will have to check out jabberfrog.com lifechurch.tv has some amazing things going on so I am sure that blog will be well worth it! I just received “Revolution” by Barna in the mail (and a couple of others I will mention later) and it is on my “to read” stack with many others. If you are asking for a good book by “Disney” i do have a coulple that are great: “The Imagineering Way” and “Be our Guest.” Both are by “Disney Edition” I think it’s called…they have some great stuff…worth the read! :)

thanks again guys! I hope to hear many more comments soon!

Real quick…if you left a comment within the last 24 hours (of Tuesday 6;32 AM) I want to offer a HUGE apology to you. I accidentally deleted the comments “in moderation” thinking I was approving them & now I can’t find them. So please drop you comments again so my (not so educated self) can put them out there for all to see. You guys had some great feedback & questions & I would love for others to be able to read them. Again I am so sorry! :(

Pudge, I actually figured out how to leave a comment! Glad you are back…The best movie out right now is “Barnyard”…I know, I know you are thinking “Cranford is a country boy, he probably likes farm animals and tractors”…Well, maybe I do, but regardless of that, “Barnyard” is awesome!

    Pudge,
I am glad you are back as well. I had a great time with you at NewSpring. Everyone should take the time to visit you. I think it is great that you want to network CM leaders because we are interested in that here at LOGOS as well.

  7. pudge says:

    Thanks Tom & Jason!

    Jason:
Haven’t seen Barnyard yet but I think it is in my “Blockbuster Total Access” Queue list…so I should see it soon!

    Tom:
It was great to have you with us a couple of weeks ago at NewSpring! The time we spent hanging out and talking CM was very encouraging for me and I’m so pumped that you enjoyed it as much as we did! I have been meaning to ask you if there is a hyper link we could put out there for our readers to link them to the podcast we did from your visit with us? I am sure it would be something a lot of our readers would enjoy listening to! :)

    Thanks again guys!

    Pudge,

I have never been deleted before. Glad you are back. I recommend “Meet the Robinsons” The girls and I saw it over easter. Also a good book is “Too small to Ignore: Why Children are the Next Big Thing. By Dr Wess Stafford. I just got this one. I enjoy your wisdom on blogging and in the church. Keep Up the good work.

    Pudge,
The podcast you all did about children’s ministry at NewSpring can be heard at http://thelogosministry.podbean.com/ This is also avaialbe by searching The LOGOS Ministry in iTunes. There is a corresponding blog about your children’s ministry at http://thelogosministry.wordpress.com/ both of these are also accesible from our website http://www.thelogosministry.org under the title Children’s Ministry Rules at Newspring. People here were really encouraged by what you said about children’s ministry. As I said, I sent the podcast file to all of the churches that we work with. I am looking forward to the next time I can come back. One thing is for sure we will have some staff at your conference next year.

Good to have you back Pudge. I was pleased to see the new posts in my “Just Pudge” feed! I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

I’ve only been blogging for month or so and I’m loving it. I’m the chidlren’s pastor at the Argyle Campus of Cross Timbers Community Church, a multi-site church just north of Fort Worth, Texas. I’ve been a chidlren’s pastor for 11 years, full time for the last 7.

I just finished “the Fabulous re-invention of Sunday School” and am currently working on “the blogging church” and “bringing up boys” (I’m having my first child any day now).

I’m readin all the main blogs as well as a few smaller upstarts like my own. Here are a few:

… just to name a few.
