There is a word that I can’t get out of my head lately.
It’s constantly there.
Its in my thoughts, words, motives and hopefully…my actions.
STEWARD…
- a person who manages another’s property or financial affairs
- a person who has charge of the household/possessions of another
In other words, someone has given you something to run that isn’t yours…
What’s been hitting me lately though is that when we hear the word STEWARD, most of the time we think of money. Which is a part of it..but not all of it.
I’m learning that I’m called to be a good steward of so much more! Like…
- my time
- my talent
- my bodies
- my ability
- my leadership (and those we lead)
- my passions
- my spiritual gifts
In other words, everything GIVEN to us…we are called to be a good STEWARD of it! What’s a good steward look like? Jesus has some thoughts…
In the end, nothing (we think we own) is ours. If we do, die and see what happens to it.
Nothing belongs to us…not our time, our talent or our money. Not our ability, passion or our gifts.
They all belong to God & He has entrusted them to us. Not to sit stagnate but to use to HONOR Him and bring Him GLORY!!
What we do with them, tells if we are a good steward or not. But like Jesus said, if he can’t trust me with little, why would He give me more?
So for me…I can’t get out of my head how much I want to be a good steward and what that means daily! I want to HONOR God by being a good steward of what everything He’s given me (not just the stuff other people notice).
I’m not there yet, but the word “steward” is bringing new meaning and conviction for me everyday!

Tried to put this in an “@” but it was just too long.
@pudgehuckaby We’ve been talking about stewardship a lot on staff. Especially Andy Stanley’s quote: “Leadership is a stewardship…” passed around your post. It was spot on and very well articulated. It hit us right where we are!
Thanks!
