We can use any variety of words we want…

Team.      Tribe.     Staff.     Group.     Unit.     Squad.

In the end, no matter what we call it, we all basically mean the same thing.  We are referring to a group of people, united together, to accomplish a shared goal.

Personally, I find teams, how they are lead and the results they attain, very interesting.  Because let’s face it, not all teams attain the same results or share the same success/failure as each other.

They are all different, but why?  What makes them so different?  What makes one successful & another not?

I don’t know.  I’m no expert or do I have data to prove one way or another.

However, I can share with you some things I’m learning about teams.  Consider the following “compare & contrast.” :-D

Good teams….

  • Are fueled by fear.  The fear of “what if we didn’t…”
  • Are lead collectively, known individually
  • Have great 2 way communication: leader to team & team to leader
  • Consists of team members that have been given a “task”
  • Implement decisions made from their leaders
  • Are lead diplomatically
  • Do what they have to do to communicate
  • Are the result of individual incentives
  • Focus on growing the target audience
  • Consist of people whose primary concern is themselves

Great teams…

  • Are fueled by the constant vision that’s consistently poured into them.
  • Lead collectively, invested in individually
  • Have great 3 way communication: leader to team, team to leader and team to team
  • Consists of team members that have been given a “purpose”
  • Create solutions & make decisions together
  • Are lead relationally
  • Go above & beyond to make sure communication is clear & understood
  • Are the result of passionate vision that overflows in them regardless of compensation
  • Focus on growing the teams that are serving the target audience
  • Consist of people whose primary concern is what’s best for the  company/team/organizations vision coming to fruition

Again, I don’t know anything.  These aren’t things that I’m an expert on or that I’m sharing from my vast wisdom.  These are simply things I’m reading, hearing from others & noticing that God has allowed me to see.

So, I thought I’d share… :-D
