Within every ministry lies a core.  The core of what’s valued and believed in.  What’s driven towards and set as the standard and the constantly growing goal.

Many times we refer to these as “core values.”

Some ministries have them written out, some don’t.

Some have them in short hand, some have multiple pages.

In most cases, one way or another…they are always there.  They are what lies at the foundation of what we are striving to accomplish.  They are how we describe our ministry to others and train others on what we are about.

Its the core.

In CM, those “core values” look different for everyone, but in some weird way, many times they are very similar.  Personally, I believe in the  5 core values of KidSpring

RELATIONSHIPS

We desire that each child come to experience a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. We also value our children’s relationships within the small group setting as they relate to their small group leader and other children within the group. As families commit to attending the same service each week, children are placed in a group of familiar faces where relationships can grow!

AGE APPROPRIATENESS

We are passionate about children learning about Jesus in a way they understand. Our environments and lesson materials are selected based on the physical, mental and emotional needs of each child.

SAFETY

We believe that safety is vital as families entrust us with their children each week. Therefore, every child’s name tag is matched to a parent-identification number, every volunteer is screened with an interview and federal background check, and every hallway is monitored with security personnel and cameras.

CREATIVE BIBLE TEACHING

The Bible is the most amazing book ever written!  We strive to bring its stories to life through activities and discussions that keep children engaged. We want all children to love God’s word and understand the value of applying it to their lives.

FUN!

Kids love fun! We realize that when children have fun at church, they can’t wait to come back. We value creating fun ways for children to learn about Jesus.

Again, every ministry has to set up their own core values based on the direction God is leading that ministry, not personal preferences.  For us at KidSpring, that’s what these are and I LOVE THEM!! :-D

What about you?

What are your ministies core values? :-D

    Pudge,
I think the core values of a ministry are critical. We need to put much thought into the basic beliefs and values that will drive ministry decisions. This goes for all ministries. I believe we as ministry leaders should put it on paper and proclaim it regularly to our volunteers. Tell you pastor about them and make sure they line up with your overall church values and direction.

It’s not perfect, but it definitely drives what we do. Volunteers have loved it, because it gives them direction and allows them to see that the ministry they are a part of has direction and purpose.
