This Christmas season God has been blowing me away with what He has been teaching & showing me! For instance, this week I got the chance to check out a cool movie…
Fred Claus
The movie was good…probably not as ‘funny’ as portrayed in previews but I was kind of expecting that. The CGI (used for the elf’s heads) and small (but multiple) zany sound fx were definitely unexpected but fun to experience! The story line was actually pretty good…maybe a little predictable but I’ve tried to stop trying to ‘figure out what happens’ and enjoy the movie. I would definitely recommend checking it out!
As the movie builds up you begin to see a reoccurring topic ‘naughty’ vs ‘nice.’ After all, ‘Santa is nice’ and ‘Fred is naughty.’ The thing that got me (& I LOVED was how they spelled this out in the end) is that there really…there aren’t ‘naughty’ kids in the world…just kids that have been hurt, picked on, abandoned, abused, and misunderstood!
Those kids don’t need to be put on a figurative ‘naughty’ list…they know they do things they shouldn’t. But that is there way of crying out for help…attention! It’s not their fault their parents were selfish deadbeats or that kids pick on them, but they are the ones suffering for it! In the end the main point was this, ‘every kid deserves a present at Christmas’ and they do!

Loved what you did at the school. Prior to working in Children’s Ministry I was a social worker so serving the community is a real priority for me. Last Friday our church went to two different homeless shelters and sent the parents out to dinner, they had their choice of four different restaurants. While they were gone we babysat the children. We put on a Christmas party complete with gifts for each child. We had a Wii for the teens to play and they absolutley loved it. It was so much fun and the volunteers who served from our church were as impacted as the families we ministered to.
