I’ve been thinking lately…what do I do that if I didn’t do it, it would stretch me?  Meaning it would force me to take my attention off many things and onto ONE thing…

As I thought more about it, I thought…what about “the twitter?”

  • Can I do without that?
  • Do I notice how many followers I have too much?
  • Do I find “worth” in that?
  • Do I like the attention it gives?
  • Do I talk too much through it?
  • Do I really need it?
  • Would it stretch me to be without it?

Twitter is great, but it can’t become something I run to…something I vent the small frustrations of life through and neglect seeking the face of God on them.

It can’t be my outlet to vent about the stupidity of the world…meanwhile forgetting the call by a loving and forgiving and HOLY God to love that same world like He does!

Twitter can’t become my…mouthpiece.  It can’t become the thing that keeps me from taking these scriptures seriously…

  • Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. (James 1:19)
  • We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth.  And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong.  In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches.   But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.  And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish,  but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison.  Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God.  And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. (James 3:2-10)
  • Good people bring good things out of the good stored up in their heart, and evil people bring evil things out of the evil stored up in their heart. For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. (Luke 6:45)
  • You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. (Matthew 12:34)

So…I made a choice.  For me, for now…till whenever…I quit twitter.

How long…if for good?  I don’t know.

But for now, I quit! :-)

I have to say that I’m sad to see you go. You have provided great encouragement and a sense of what it is like working full time in CM. That said you have some very good reasons. Follow God. Be a quitter.
