Like I was saying Tuesday, although I have a passion for leadership, I am of all people most unqualified to talk about it.
I have no idea what I’m doing or how to lead, but I still love to share what I’m learning through my inadequacies & imperfection. It doesn’t mean I’m there and telling anyone what they should do, it simply means…”here’s what I’m learning & being stretched on”
One of the ways I’m doing that is through twitter. I started a series called “learning 2 lead.” It’s really meant more to remind me of what I’m learning (like a text to myself) than to tell others what they should be doing.
Here are some of the things that I’ve put up so far from what I’ve been learning…
- Utilizing my team to accomplish the vision multiplies the impact of the vision
- Attempting to control all situations will rob my team of leadership lessons
- Attempting to control all situations will rob my team of leadership opportunities & lessons
- Trust, loyalty, diligence & communication are NON-negotiable in successfully leading any team
- Pray for a team that hears & is obedient to the Word of God more than a team that is “just” submissive to me
- Commit to having committed people at every level who feel involved, appreciated & proud of what they do
- Ask my team more questions than I give directives, model more, listen more than I speak
- Making the right thing happen by bringing out the best in others
- Train & develop your team and always look for improved & better ways to do things
- The way I model communication 4 my team (top/down/peer, good/bad) will become the way my team communicates, model clarity
- Embrace the truth, we will always have more to learn than share, to live, lead or imply otherwise is hypocrisy
- Focus on doing the BEST we can with what we have instead of blaming, whining or wishing things would just change
- Our ownership IN the church is on loan. It’s still & always will be HIS CHURCH..HIS BRIDE. Steward/lead/manage/grow wisely
- Humility. Not easy, but joyfully necessary. –James 1:21, Ephesians 4:2
- How to live/love/lead was MODELED for us, our failure to do so is simply disobedience — Philippians 2
- Leaders are stewards are shepherds. We can’t lead/grow/support/pray for the FLOCK we don’t know. –Proverbs 27:23-27
I know, it’s a lot, but, like I said, it doesn’t mean that I’m anywhere near being an expert on ANY of it! But, by the grace of God…I’m learning and I’m so thankful for that!
What about you…what are you learning?
