I’m a firm believer that just because a campus (or church) is portable, doesn’t mean it has to look un-excellent! At the same time that I say that, I openly admit that I don’t know all the “tricks of the trade” to make that belief a reality.

However, during the time God has allowed me to be a part of a being “portable” He’s allowed me to learn a few simple rules to live by…

  1. Be obedient to His BIG dreams, regardless of your location
  2. You can’t do it alone, build a team (teams respond to big vision, not safe set ups)
  3. Organize, organize, organize (then communicate, communicate, communicate the organization)
  4. Put everything on wheels and/or in carts
  5. Find lightweight, durable furniture & equipment
  6. If it’s not washable or wipeable…you don’t want it

These can be great rules to live by in the world of “portable” but putting them into practice isn’t always as simple. It takes hard work, patience and trusting God every step of the way. He wants to see His church grow more than we do…even if we are “portable.”

In the end, it’s about trusting God and doing everything for His glory…not what’s safe. Check back tomorrow and I’ll share some of the resources God’s allowed us to discover that go great in the “portable” world!
