I’ve been reading (& learning) a lot about grace lately in my QT (supplementing in “What’s so Amazing about Grace?” by Phillip Yancy). I think we all like the idea of grace, but struggle with it’s practice.
Here are some takeaways I’m learning & striving to wrap my heart around it’s application…
- the ONLY way we can truly KNOW (& give) grace is to KNOW Jesus & HIS grace
- the more we experience His grace, the easier it should be to give grace
- grace is NOT earned, it’s an unearned gift that given by choice
- grace means nothing we do or don’t do will make God love us any less or more
- grace isn’t about what place we finish, it’s about choosing not to count at all
- grace is forgiving debts even when the debtor isn’t even sorry
- everyone loves to accept grace, no one easily loves the practice of grace
- the gospel of grace ends & begins with forgiveness
- the opposite of grace is resentment
- granting grace bring freedom, banning grace brings bondage
- choosing not to forgive is like ingesting poison, it kills us from the inside out
- grace alone destroys ungrace
- giving grace means we trust Gods justice, not our own
- God forgives me AS I forgive others
In the end, it’s much easier to accept Jesus’ grace than understand it! The Creator of the Universe who invented all life & conquered death LOVES me (personally) so much that He gave it all so I could be forgiven…
So I could be given grace that I will NEVER deserve…
If He does that for unworthy me…!! If His Love is that HUGE for unworthy me…!!! Then why am I so arrogant that I can’t I forgive my neighbor again?
Wow!! I’m so unworthy & He is so WORTHY!!
Just what I’m (still trying) to learn & practice…
