bridge-run-2.jpgWOW!! This weekend was definitely jam packed and exhausting! I could probably sleep for 2 days straight, but I can’t, so I won’t. But I will give you guys a recap and some thoughts…

  • My wife and a couple of our friends ran the Cooper River Bridge Run this weekend!
  • I love that my wife’s family lives in Charleston (I LOVE Charleston it’s so beautiful)!
  • 10Ks in humid areas on tall bridges…hurt!
  • Everyone in our group finished within the ‘goal time’ we had set for ourselves!
  • Meghan and Vanessa finished in 1:14, WAY under goal time! So proud! :)
  • They also managed to make it on TV during the local coverage of the race!
  • I finished in 56:45, goal was to be under an hour!
  • My wife…is AWESOME!
  • I’m trying to decide whether or not I should begin training for a half-marathon…?
  • The logistical planning and communication that goes into the Bridge run blew my mind! I’m still thinking about it all!
  • Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions for new “run playlist” ideas for my iPod.
  • There’s been talk of making the Cooper River Bridge Run an annual thing for us.
  • People wore costumes for the Cooper River Bridge Run (box cars, red dresses & heels, brides dresses, speedos & shoes, etc) this was…weird! :)
  • Driving home late Saturday evening (with 4 services the next day)…leaves you tired on Sunday!
  • I’d love to run the Disney Marathon by 2010…or 2011 maybe?
  • My wife and I are taking a small vacation this weekend and I can’t wait! Some R&R time together to just hang out! :)

Well, that’s all I have for now. I’d love to hear from you guys though! For instance, if I do decide to run a half-marathon this year, what half marathons/ marathons are out there (you guys might know about) that you would recommend?

How was your weekend? :)

Thanks guys! :)

Great job on the run Pudge! We ran back to back camps for two weeks and then rolled into the offices to launch 4 internationally. And then I joined a gym. Today I racked up 10 kms on the tread mill, I maybe be coming for your PB

    Pudge,

The half marathon that I would suggest is the Rock N Roll Half at Virginia Beach. I am pretty sure the date is August 31st 2008. Great FLAT course with the finish ending on the boardwalk. Beautiful area. The website is http://www.rnrvb.com The price to run also includes a concert on the beach. Once you complete that one, you all will be ready for the Disney Marathon in January 2009 :) A group of us from NewSpring has done the Bridge Run the last couple of years and I have talked them into running the Half in Virginia Beach. This will be my third Virginia Beach Run, again great course.

Kiawah Island in December…there’s a half and a full marathon. It’s flat and the weather will be nice and cool.

    Hey Pudge!

I hate to just stick this as an unrelated comment on this post, but I was at Unleash the other week with several others from our church. I have recently been asked to take over the children’s ministry at our 8 month old church plant, and I was wondering if you could give a newcomer to CM any advice. No rush or anything…I imagine you stay super busy at NewSpring. If you get a chance, my email is justatron@gmail.com. Thanks!
