We all want to be creative…don’t we? It just sounds cool to hear someone say, “(insert name here) is so creative!” But are we all creative? And while we’re asking, what is creative anyway?
Are creative people only the artistic people? The people who can create a picture from a blank canvas or design beautiful products from ordinary materials…are ONLY they creative?
Are creative people only the musicians? The people who can create music from silence and transform noise into melodies…are ONLY they creative?
I ask because I think many times we think we’re creative, but we try to fit the part rather than be the part! Being creative isn’t limited to any field or gift! We’re all creative in different ways because we’re made in our Creator’s image (Genesis 1:26-27)! Jesus is Creative & He created us in His image & for a purpose (Colossians 1:15-23)!
The temptation is to see “creative” as one thing and it’s not! It’d be like saying “creative” means “circle” & if you aren’t a “circle,” you aren’t creative (you’re a “square”). BUT really, creative means “shapes” & we’re all “shapes” (just not the same shapes)! Creative means so many things (per Thesaurus.com)…
- artistic
- clever
- cosmoplastic
- demiurgic
- gifted
- imaginative
- innovative
- inspired
- inventive
- omnific
- original
- productive
- seminal
Everyone is creative, but not everyone is an artist, designer, musician, etc. You were created to be you, not what you wish were you (because it looks cool)! This world needs to see who Jesus created you/me to be! So be YOU & always cling to the Creator for you creativity & purpose! ![]()
