One of the things I love to do most on the blog is to shoot you guys questions! I love hearing your feedback and the opportunity it gives me to see things from a new and fresh perspective!
I am a firm believer that we still have SO MUCH to learn from each other and the more we can learn from each other…the better! So, here is something that I am sure is probably a little different for each CM and I thought it would be cool to talk about it. Here goes…
What does the age breakdown look like for the Children’s Ministry at your church? And why?
And by that, what I mean is…how do your rooms look? What ages go to what rooms? How do you divide out your nursery rooms, preschool rooms, elementary rooms, etc.? What do you use to check in your families on Sunday? How does it work for you?
All these things and…why? Why do you keep “X” age all alone? Maybe its because that’s what’s worked for you or maybe its because that’s what works best in your building? Knowing why can help us all see a better picture of what you see!
I promise, I have no ‘right answer’ or agenda here! This was just something I was thinking about earlier and I started to wonder…how does everyone else’s age break down look? Maybe I should ask…!?
So PLEASE drop a comment, let us know what things look like for you and tell your friends to write in too! This should be fun!

Our breakdown is:
Nursery
Toddler
2s
3s/4s
K-2
3-5
K-5 all come together for large group. We’ve always had space issues with our 3s/4s because there are so many, and also because kids turn 3 and move into that room throughout the year but the kids going into Kindergarten don’t move out until our Promotion Sunday in June.
