The other day I was thinking about how many bloggers there are out there. Then I started to think…WOW there are a lot of blog readers out there too. Then I started to think…but why?
I mean I know why I read the blogs that I read…but what about others? Why do people read the blogs they do? So, I thought I would toss the question out there to everyone. I even “narrowed” it down to just 3 simple questions…
- Why do you blog (if you blog)?
- Why do you read blogs?
- How many blog posts do you read per week?
Anyway, no agenda here…just really curious what you guys have to say!!

1. I blog mostly for fun. I enjoy writing. There is also heavy pressure from family back home and other staffers.
2. I read blogs to learn and to be entertained.
3. Not quite sure. Probably 70-ish…and that’s way too many.

I don’t blog b/c I don’t have time, but I do love to read some blogs just to keep up with what’s going on with people and to stay connected… not only with the people but also with God. I use many of Perry’s blogs as a catalyst for deeper Bible study and meditation on God’s Word. I read Pudge’s posts for encouragement, humor, and insight. I read Clayton King’s blog to keep tabs on him and to hear some encouragement. I also like following the links to other blog posts sometimes. It’s cool how God uses technology to lead us to what He wants us to hear sometimes.

Let me just answer these questions by not answering them
I think blogging and the future of this kind of communication has a lot to do with transparency. A lot of my blogging is my personal growth and learning. If I’m not blogging I am probably not thinking enough.
Bloggers are ahead of the curve in terms of the evolution of this kind of communication. I just love being a part of the revolution of an entire culture!
I read about 120 posts a day!! (Just figured out from (Google reader)

1. I started blogging as a way to archive tips for the small group leaders in my ministry. I started sending them a weekly e-mail message with a leadership tip and realized after the second week that it would be wiser to put them in a blog so people could access any tip at any time. This also has made it possible for children’s ministry leaders from other churches to access the tips.
2. I read blogs to to be challenged in my thinking on several different subjects, to keep up on the thoughts and hobbies of my family, and to learn how to be a better blogger.
3. I stay up on about 20 blogs regularly and then read other posts that catch my eye.
