JUST PUDGE

I love the weekend! It’s just…AWESOME!! Sure, my weekend looks different than most because it runs Friday to Saturday, but then there’s Sunday…which may be the most AWESOME day of the week!! Here are some highlights…

my Sabbath’s changing…

• Friday used to be the Sabbath (day of rest) for me…
• Now, my Sabbath is switching to Saturday!
• Why?
• I want my wife AND I to BOTH have a Sabbath
• She works on Friday and Saturday becomes “cleaning day” for us
• Now, Friday will now be a “clean & work around the house” day for me (that starts after 11AM that is)!
• This way, Saturday will be our Sabbath together!

College Football ROCKS!

• A lot of great games to watch this weekend…
• Clemson vs. Maryland (GO TIGERS!!)
• Georgia vs Bama (Roll TIDE!!)
• Penn State vs Illinois (Stay strong State!!)
• Florida St. vs Colorado (Go NOLES!!)
• UNC vs Miami (never thought this would be a good game…)
• Virgina Tech vs. Nebraska (Go HOKIES!!!)
• South Carolina vs UAB (wait, who’s playing…is this a High School game?)
• South Florida vs NC State (Go PACK!!)
• Yeah, I like college football…what of it?

NFL Football is still on TV…right?

• Umm…
• Ah, who cares about the NFL anyway?
• I just learned today that Bret Farve didn’t play for “Green Bay” anymore…at MOE’s!
• Sad.

Next week is going to ROCK!!

• Next week is going to be an AWESOME week at NewSpring!!
• Going to get lots of rest this weekend to prep!
• I’m sure adrenaline will run through my veins like crazy!
• Also, side note, a lot of great season premieres on ABC…get the DVR ready!!

One of the things I am passionate about is making life simpler and one of the things I (and many of us) use to do this is my phone! Ironically we add smartphones with multiple apps and more simple operating systems to our diets to make life simpler, but if you are like me…we too can complicate even this!

So what is a man (or woman) to do? To be honest, I have no idea! But I’d love to share some hints I’ve learned to help and ask some questions to you guys about stuff you might have a ‘heads up’ on…

• Wordpress Mobile (makes your blog viewable from mobile phones…plug in does all the work)
  
• YouTube Mobile (View from Mobile phone. Also, get an YouTube email address you send videos to and it uploads for you)
• Google Maps (Acts as a GPS for my phone…for free)
• Everything Google (sites, docs, calendar, email, feedburner, talk, gadgets, desktop, igoogle, Goog411, googlemaps, and much much more!)
• OggSync (Sync up everything Google with everything Microsoft on your phone..calendar, contacts, email the works)
• CallWave (turns voice mails to email updates…standard with Dashwire)
  
• ESPN alerts (just for fun, SMS alerts of scores, updates, etc. set it up on ESPN dot com for free)
  

questions…

I’m still looking for things to simplify the following…

• To-Do List (Tried “Remember the Milk” and now trying “ToodleDo”…want something to sync my to-do list with my Google calendar and my phone…any suggestions?)
• Wordpress mobile (Yes, previous mentioned plug in allows others to view your blog from a mobile phone, but I’m looking for something that makes it easy to create a blog post from my phone. Any suggestions?)
• Other fun tools (I know this is all a lot, but I’m always looking for more. Anything out there you would suggest?)

In the end, you’re probably thinking…how does adding so much to your life simplify it. Simple…it thinks about the things I don’t have time to do or think about. I don’t want to waste time wondering…

• Do I have all my emails now?
• Is my calendar updated?
• How do I put this video online?
• How is my favorite team doing?
• Etc.

I want to spend my time on the important stuff…”Jesus & me,” my family, and how to connect “Jesus & people.” Everything else…is just details (that my phone should be able to manage for me)!

The other day I was thinking about how many bloggers there are out there. Then I started to think…WOW there are a lot of blog readers out there too. Then I started to think…but why?

I mean I know why I read the blogs that I read…but what about others? Why do people read the blogs they do? So, I thought I would toss the question out there to everyone. I even “narrowed” it down to just 3 simple questions…

• Why do you blog (if you blog)?
• Why do you read blogs?
• How many blog posts do you read per week?

Anyway, no agenda here…just really curious what you guys have to say!!
