If you were looking at it as a math formula it might look like this…
(F/T)P=G
However, if written out, it might be read like this, “failure over time, multiplied with perseverance creates (or equals) growth.”
I’ve (still) been looking at some of the different ‘quotes’ Walt (Disney) said during his lifetime & very successful career, I found these on failure particularly interesting…
- “You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”
- “I think it’s important to have a good hard failure when you’re young. I learned a lot of that. Because it makes you kind of aware of what can happen to you. Because of it I’ve never had any fear in my whole life when we’ve been near collapse and all of that. I’ve never been afraid. I’ve never had the feeling I couldn’t walk out and get a job doing something.”
- “All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles have strengthened me.”
- “It is good to have a failure while you’re young because it teaches you so much. For one thing it makes you aware that such a thing can happen to anybody, and once you’ve lived through the worst, you’re never quite as vulnerable afterward.”
- “Almost everyone warned us that Disneyland would be a Hollywood spectacular–a spectacular failure. But they were thinking about an amusement park, and we believed in our idea–a FAMILY park where parents and children could have fun–TOGETHER.”
In a nutshell, the IMPACT of failure can be positive or negative…it all depends on what you CHOOSE do with it. You can learn & grow from it or you can pout & fail more.
FAILURE is inevitable… We dont have a choice, sooner or later it will hsppen. We DO have a CHOICE for how we react to it!!
Let’s make WISE CHOICES!
