- I don’t know much about leadership
- I’m the oldest man in the room & the youngest pastor in the room.
- But I do know this…it’s all about the person of Jesus Christ
- Leadership is about knowing & following Jesus
- On your mark, get set, GO
- The question you had to ask first ..”where are we racing to?”
- We have to know where we were going before we got “On our mark”
- Where is it that we are on your mark, getting set & going to?
- We are all going to a common destination…we’ve got to get our heads around that
- “Your life is shaped by the end you live for. You are made in the image of what you desire.” - Thomas Menton
- The common end we all share is to THE FACE OF THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD!! He is at the end of my journey
- My life started in God, is sustained in God & will end with God
- Leadership is about seeking HIS FACE & reflecting it to the world
- 1 Corinthians 13
- “…we see now but. Poor reflection in the mirror, but then we will see FACE to FACE…”
- The end of us is the most powerful part of us that’s making us
- What we desire in the end is what we are growing to become
2 things that are essential that we see as people & leaders when we look at the face of Jesus…
1) We find the beauty & magnifiscent of the face of Jesus
- We were creating to get caught up in the face of Jesus
- We were created to draw our very worth, self, joy & spirit from His face
- We don’t have enough people walking around with the beauty of God on their face
- Are we thinking?…I’m LIVING for YOU! I’m LOVING for YOU! I’m LEADING for YOU!
- Psalm 115
2) Confidence & power to lead in the face of Jesus
- The power of the church isn’t found in the power of men but in the power of Christ
- What do have to be afraid of when we see the face of Jesus
- He is the Head of the body, not me
- There is nothing HE can’t do
- Louie killed 2 snakes
- He wasn’t satisfied with that, so he cut both their heads off
- Then he hung both of them from the trees as a sign to the reptile kingdom
- They thought that when they killed OUR HEAD & hung Him from a tree it would stop us or slow us down
- But OUR HEAD came back to life & lives….HE is our HEAD & He’s already won
- Leadership isn’t about getting ahead but about THE HEAD
- I’m a complete mess but He’s an awesome head
- We are never going to embarrass our HEAD by saying “we can’t do that!”
- Extreme Homemaker over…”Move that Bus”…what’s the first thing you see?
- THE FACES of the families and all involved…THEN you see the house
- A lost world can’t see the house yet, but they can see our face as we marvel at the House (the Face of Christ)
- We want the world to say…”I found God on your face”
- that’s leadership
- I do what I see Him do & I say what He says because Im caught up in His face
