Remember when we were kids, and we wanted a friend to stay over or a snack after school…what did we have to do? We had to ASK our parents! There was so much power in that ASK–because even though our answer may be “no,” the only hope we had in seeing something happen & any change take place, started with us ASKing!
As adults, there’s still power in the ASK…especially when comes to seeing change take place! There’s so much power in shoulder tapping and ASKing someone…
- Hey, you would LOVE my church, want to come check it out?
- Hey, you would LOVE this group I’m a part of, want to come check it out?
- Hey, you would LOVE serving with me & the team I serve with, why don’t you come check it out?
- Hey, you do a great job on our team, I would LOVE to talk to you about taking on more responsibility & ownership, you interested?
Many times, people are literally waiting for that ASK to be that one extra reason why they’d take that next step…it starts with an ASK! Sometimes it takes 12 ASKs over the course of a few months, or even a year or more! However, if we’re honest, the ASK can be scary & many times we allow our fear/excuses to hold us back…
- what if they say “no”
- what if they think I’m crazy
- what if I push them farther away?
- what if I don’t know them
- I don’t have time right now
There’s so much power in the ASK! It’s such a simple concept, while at the same time, very challenging! It’s very interesting to me, reading through Scripture & seeing how Jesus’ closest disciples became disciples. Jesus PERSONALLY ASKed them!! Jesus PERSONALLY tapped them on the shoulder & ASKed (hey, come follow me?)! Isn’t it funny He set up that model for us? 
The ASK still has tremendous power in it! Tapping into that power simply comes when we’re bold enough to believe it, apply it & keep at! Jesus works through us ASKing!
